German Census Records 1933

Because these church-affiliated records were a core part of the German administrative system, the 1933 census provided a specific breakdown of religious affiliation

  • Protestant: ~40.8 million (62.7%).
  • Roman Catholic: ~21.1 million (32.5%).
  • Jewish: ~500,000 (roughly 0.75% to 0.8% of the total population).
  • Other/Irreligious: ~3.2 million (roughly 4.8%)

Total population: 66m.

The figures provided are based on the June 16, 1933 Census of the German Reich

The number marked in red  goes drastically down in the 1939 census records due to emigration.
