The name "Adenoid" is a classic piece of Chaplin's genius. He chose it as a direct parody of Adolf, but with a hilarious anatomical twist. Adenoids are the patches of tissue high up in the throat, right behind the nose. When they get swollen, they cause people to talk with a nasal, stuffed-up, congested voice—which perfectly matches the choked, barking gibberish Hynkel uses during his speeches.

The nose is for the breath of LIFE (which is why they smashed noses, to kill the people depicted in art).
