The lines above are an excerpt from a high school psychology textbook from NS50 (code name).
The South had zero crime, zero divorce rate. 100% employment, no poverty. Highest standards of living - everyone ate strictly at the village restaurant. The South was entirely rural, with perfectly integrated modern tech.
I will analyse their civilisation through their own standards:
>> sleep. The South lived about 1,000 km around the equator, despite being arctic species. They had bunk beds and communal living on the rare occasions they slept inside their houses. They prefer to sleep outside, alone. Custom made bedding, to suit personal preferences and requirements.
8/10 (they love to sleep together in bad weather, it reminds them of the harsh winters in the arctic, when they dug tunnels under ice/snow. They slept together, holding hands. In case ice/snow melted, at least one would sense and alert everyone, thus ensuring their survival. It is also time for extra cuddles and affection.
10/10 for the outside arrangements - in nature, close to the house. Perfect safety and security (no dangerous animals or criminals). Beds had roofs in most cases.
Total 9/10.
FOOD. The South focused on a perfect balance of blends, spices ,etc. Perfect food, similar to home (which is the highest compliment I could pay to anyone). Very healthy, too. Prepared by top chefs in every village. 10/10.
Amazing cakes and ice cream (modern ice cream machine, used fresh milk and ingredients)
DRINKS - like home, they don't drink water. High standards, milk based drinks, along with natural fruit juices. 10/10.
They are the ONLY society that scores high on the last entry for the ''fundamental needs- all animals''. They teach sex, discuss the topic openly, without any taboos. Wise choice, as it is a fundamental need that needs to be openly discussed, however in a non vulgar, promiscuous way.
They have an excellent family life - they stayed together across many incarnations (I always met the same families in the village I visited often, solid families that had been together for hundreds of thousands of years).
Education - , their textbooks were good quality, this was a brief summary of a chapter that was presented and discussed openly. The local teacher taught all children, including high schoolers who attended an actual high school in the nearby main village (which had a high school and a hospital, they could drive from early age).
High standards of education, with a proper library (everyone had access to it, 120 people per village - a rather permanent number across a vast timeline). Excellent scientific documentaries that children LOVED and asked the teacher to replay those even during holidays - when they simply hanged out at the restaurant. The interest in science was so vibrant in the community that the ladies who worked at the restaurant always asked the teacher to bring the film/documentary so that they could all watch.
I would not give them a 10, but a 9, simply because NO ONE gets a 10 yet. And if anyone gets it, it is Matria Esh :) Still, close.
But high schoolers commuted (so this is a minus, but a minor issue, since they had cars and drove safely. No accidents. Plus, there was only one teacher for the local school - however well qualified in that particular village
NOURISHMENT - this means many things:
-- house with all amenities (electricity, water, etc). Their houses were luxurious.
--each house had a fridge by the front door. If you passed by, you could help yourself with a drink (they were THAT hospitable). It was always placed in such a way to avoid forcing people to go inside (and thus the need to remove shoes).
---a clean environment - . 10/10.
--a safe environment - 10/10 (absolutely no crime, they had no police or army. EVER).
--easy access to nature - 10/10. The restaurant had a roof, but it was in open air. Stunning views from every house. No unnecessary concrete (they had no road in the village, just grass. Soil did not allow formation of excessive mud, though.
-- total employment (everyone worked in the village).
-- easy access to books - the school hosted the local library, owned by everyone. It was never locked (no need).
-- They never visited each other or invited others into their house because everyone met at the restaurant.
-- It was rude to walk close to the area (no fences) where the private bedding was. It was rude to approach someone who retreated there - if anyone wanted to socialise, they would go to the restaurant.
-- Everyone was highly polite and helpful - they always cleaned their own tables and took the dirty dishes to the dishwashers. Loaded them, too.
-- Very elegant when out, some of the nicest people.
They did not come across as very affectionate, but that could be because not everyone expresses affection in public. However, they were very open and had a clean energy.
There were no diseases or STDs. EVER. They were healthy until 50s ...When they started to age, they'd die in 2-3 years. Looked young even when 50 (they looked like 20 when they were 50).
-- Matriarchal --like all White Light worlds -- they answered directly to MATRIA, and even the royal house could not demand them to break Matria's laws. THEY NEVER DID.
A woman - either the local doctor or the teacher - was the village governor. One in ten villages was bigger (doctors, teachers, engineers).
Average pop per village: 120.
Total pop: c. 1.3m.
Their main issue - the NORTH. Otherwise, one of the best places in the entire universe.
And no, no human can ever set foot there :) FORTUNATELY for everyone else!
Just like no human can ever set foot on HEAVEN.
Lowest darkness does not belong in the highest WHITE LIGHT WORLD.
Evil will be wiped out permanently.
Note that these are goals that CAN BE ACHIEVED.
One can achieve a PERFECT sleeping spot.
One can eat and drink the PERFECT food/drinks.
One can have excellent education, nourishment, affection.
ONE can achieve all these goals and score close to 10/10 or even 10/10.
SET ACHIEVABLE GOALS. Work hard and be HONEST and you will reach them. And then celebrate reaching the goals. Stay modest and respectful. Never break Matria's laws (which is the easy passport to hell)
Note that the South never mentioned romantic love - they did not care for such illusion. Which is why they succeeded where the rest failed (I hope they have not changed this).
Every single other world struggles with relationships.
The cutest thing - they focus to preserve/achieve balance in the universe. If a couple has 2 children of the same sex, which is extremely rare, they exchange one (usually the youngest) with a child of the opposite sex. This way, they have a girl and a boy - and preserve or restore the balance of the universe.
They always have 2 children - a girl and a boy. The entire family - all generations - live in the same house and educate the children together. This way, they have a ratio of about 6 or even 8 adults per 2 children :)
Plus the local teacher, who is always busy with the village children and teens. That is why they have such excellent manners and are so well educated in academic topics, too.
They are fond of reading and science.
They consistently score 2 points more than the North in academic
exams (on a scale from 1 to 10). 20% of the university graduates have a
PhD (which means highly trained doctors, teachers, engineers). Even if
they enjoy the best of health most of their life, they still focus on having the best doctors.
I have a saying ''Best to have them and not need them, than to need them and not have them''. This goes for police and the army, too - the South learnt this the hard way....
No matter how safe, polite, civilised, zero crime, a civilisation is, one absolutely needs a police force and an army. Skills must be formed and preserved. I'd put ''have an army and police'' in the fundamental needs.
Or a civilisation risks being wiped out if invaded.
