Operation Paperclip (originally named Project Overcast)

 Operation Paperclip (originally named Project Overcast) was a secret United States intelligence program that recruited and relocated more than 1,600 German scientists, engineers, and technicians to the U.S. for government employment following the end of World War II in Europe. Conducted by the Joint Intelligence Objectives Agency (JIOA) between 1945 and 1959, the primary objective was to STEAL Third Reich technologies—particularly in rocketry, chemical weapons, and aerospace medicine. 

Germany had technology and science that was far superior to anyone else's. Stealing the documentation was not enoigh - only the German scientists could understand it.
